Passion Parties in the Sun Sentinel

Sun Sentinel

"Women-only sex-toy shindigs are as much for the laughs as the sales

By Kathleen Kernicky South Florida Sun-Sentinel

It's Friday night, and in Carole Marquardt's living room, 10 women, stylishly dressed, sip red wine and hoot and howl as they pass around the product samples.

Think anatomically shaped, aromatic or edible. Names like Big Thriller. Tasty Tease. The Feathersnapper. OK, you'll have to use your imagination here.

Passion Parties are hot on the home-party circuit.

And this is no Tupperware party.

The Las Vegas-based company sells "sensual aids" and sex toys to women in the comfort and privacy of their new best friend's living room. The parties are strictly women only, 18 years and older. "

Schneider: Skeptic questions claim that pill raises gas mileage

It's the perfect product for a society that believes in a pill for every problem - the BioPerformance Top Secret Gas Pill.

Earlier this week, Mark Gillengerten, a car salesman who lives in Lansing, faxed me a flier showing up at various auto--related businesses around town.

The flier's purpose was twofold: to tout the virtues of the gas-saving pill and to recruit "entrepreneurs" to sell the pills through "network marketing."

A sample of the flier's prose: "Can you really save money at the pump? Absolutely!!

"All you need to do is put a pill in your gas tank and you will be amazed ... If you have a 25-gallon tank you could save up to $15 every time you put gas in your car!"

As for the entrepreneurial angle, well ... people can make money helping others save money, the flier says, although BioPerformance is explicit about not guaranteeing any income.

BioPerformance: Fuel additive claims to help save a bundle at the pump

Fuel additive claims to help save a bundle at the pump

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- With gas prices creeping closer to post-Katrina levels, some people are looking for creative ways to save at the pump. One fuel additive on the market claims it can save more than 25 percent on your next gas purchase.

BioPerformance comes in powder and pill form. The company claims putting its product in a gas tank will reduce contamination and drastically improve gas mileage.

To get the most from the additive, the makers recommend putting it in your tank on empty, right before you fill up.
