Passion Parties in the Las Vegas Weekly

Source: Npros.com

"Passion Parties is one of the largest companies of its type in the country, and its headquarters are located right here in Las Vegas. Last month it hosted a large convention at the Hilton (yeah, you missed out) and this month marks the company’s 15th anniversary. For women like Mason, working as a Passion Parties consultant full or part-time has become a lucrative and fulfilling career.

Mason claims that consultants can make an annual salary of $75,000 to $400,000. While the parties are free to guests, the consultants earn a 40 percent commission from every product they sell.

A former Nordstrom’s employee, Mason met Passion Parties founder Pat Davis at the store where Davis was a frequent customer. Through her, Mason learned about the company and decided to join the team.

“If I could sell furs, I could sell sex toys,” Mason reasoned. After switching jobs, Mason shed over 200 pounds and enjoyed a corresponding influx of self-esteem. “I want to go out there and share my experiences and help girls feel good about themselves and enhance their relationships.”

For 18-year-old Liz, the hostess of tonight’s party and the woman whose apartment we are all invading, the incentive is more mercenary. Liz is trying to earn enough money to attend Pima Medical School’s veterinarian technology program, and her current job, as a spa attendant at a hotel, doesn’t pay enough.

“This is the perfect thing,” Liz says of the Passion Party, although she isn’t a fan of the toys. “I don’t own a single one. I prefer the old-fashioned way.”

Thankfully for Mason, Liz is in the minority. "

"A 5-year-old Orem-based network marketing company is struggling under the twin challenges of financial losses and a legal attack by a vendor that is turning itself into a competitor.

ForeverGreen Worldwide Corp., a seller of natural food, nutritional supplements and personal-care products, lost $1 million in 2008, had a deficit of $1.8 million in cash available for daily operations and ended the year with a deficit of $18 million accumulated over its five years of operation, according to its annual report filed this month with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In addition, Wellosophy of Folsom, Calif., has sued in federal court alleging ForeverGreen has failed to pay it about $75,000 for supplying a weight-loss product. The suit also claims the Utah company is violating its contract by continuing to market the product and it asks for an injunction.

Paul Frampton, ForeverGreen chief financial officer, said Wednesday the company has sufficient backing to weather the financial strains. He acknowledged there had been a disagreement over invoices after the weight-loss product called Form began piling up in the company's warehouse because it has not been selling well.

"We're happy to work it out," Frampton said. "Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the intent of the suit." "

"MonaVie juice a no-brainer choice for anyone looking to improve their overall health, according to its growing legion of converts and advocates.

MonaVie, which features high-mineral, high-antioxidant juice extracts from the Brazilian superfruit acai (pronounced ah-Sigh-ee) berry and 18 other fruits, is distributed by a growing stable of direct marketers.

A tasting event is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Hutchinson Event Center. Free samples will be provided.

“The big thing for me is the cholesterol control. I take the Pulse formula (in the red bottle) with plant sterols for cardiovascular health and to get away from taking medicines,” Novak Ardolf said. Pulse has antioxidant polyphenols.

The Active formula (in the green bottle) aids in muscle and joint health. The original purple bottle formula features the juice of 19 fruits, including the acai, an almost black purple berry about the size of a blueberry. "

efusjon in the Cascade Business News

Source: Cascade Business News

"Start-up company efusjon was recently featured in the Cascade Business News.

...The goal of efusjon management is to re-launch their brand at the beginning of the year, which will include an overhaul of their website. Ultimately they would like to introduce a new flavor every month, until they have 10 to 15 different healthy energy drinks on the market. Flavors and properties will be kept natural.

Following the model so successfully developed by Costco, efusjon will not use traditional marketing techniques. The say that social networking will be the key to their success. Similar to a wine club, members will join up and receive four cases a month. If members end up bringing more people on board, they will be compensated on a monthly basis. Essentially it is a referral based social networking model.

Everything will be handled out of the corporate headquarters which will utilize their website to manage and track their growth. “We want people to market for us, and we’re not going to have a fleet of delivery trucks so our model allows us to focus on managing our core business,” explained Towles, “and we needed to be somewhere where a healthy energy drink fits in.”

Telecom Giant and Internet Guru Partner to Create Digital Phone Company

Austin, TX, April 3, 2009 - IamVoip, an established digital VoIP phone service, has joined forces with Steve Smith, Co-Founder and former Chief of Marketing for Excel Telecommunications. An industry leader, Mr. Smith has re-entered the communications realm to take a hands-on management position with IamVoip.
IamVoip is the brain child of Internet marketing guru Blake Christensen. Over the past three years IamVoip has become a leader in the Voice over Internet Protocol industry, offering its customers a service-based experience while pairing in-demand technology and a direct sales platform.

“The digital space is taking a hold over every aspect of modern consumerism,” said Smith. “As new technology emerges, it is crucial to stay on the cutting edge. IamVoip gives this fast-paced and technical industry a personable, approachable and familiar spirit. I’m looking forward to working with the company and expanding its dedicated clientele.”

Mr. Smith brings his knowledge and expertise to a company that is at the center of the innovations in the communications field as digital technology quickly becomes the standard in the telecom industry.

The IamVoip service offers substantial savings over standard telephone service, with no hidden “gotcha” fees as seen on traditional phone bills. Unlike other “free” internet-based calling services, IamVoip customers merely plug their home or business phones into the IamVoip jack and call as normal. There is no computer necessary. IamVoip provides Digital Phone Service (VoIP) by using a High Speed Internet connection instead of outdated, more expensive telecom lines.

IamVoip customers keep their established phone numbers and use their existing phone equipment to make calls as usual. IamVoip works exactly the same as traditional phone services. When customers pick up the phone, they hear a dial tone. When someone calls, the phone rings. The consumer will never notice a difference in service, only a drastic reduction in price.

There are several IamVoip packages available. Customers can also choose to become an Independent Sales Agent with the company to earn a residual income, while helping others save money on their phone service. In this uncertain economy it is vital to save every penny—and even more important to seek additional income sources. IamVoip offers both to the public.

For additional information on IamVoip and telecom giant Steve Smith, contact Kenny Trattner or visit www.iamvoip.com. To make a free call using IamVoip’s crystal clear digital service, visit the Make a Call on Us station at www.iamvoip.com.

ABOUT IamVoip - IamVoip is the industry leader in digital telecommunications, pioneering the VoIP movement by offering business class service and features to homes and small businesses across the nation at unbeatable prices.

Fresh baked goods and a few snacks, at first glance it may be hard to believe A.J. Sanford is getting ready for work. "I've been able to meet some wonderful people and the lady I work for is just an absolute sweetheart. She's been able to introduce me to some other people and you know we're just kind of building this network of friends."

A year ago, she started a second job working part time from home selling jewelry for the Lia Sophia jewelry company.

"I try to book approximately four shows a month and with that it's about $800 a month additional income, so it's huge, especially in the times we're in." ...

Passion Parties on KAUZ

Source: Npros.com

"A recent story on KAUZ.com, Texoma's news station, featured Passion Parties, the adult in-home party company.

Passion parties. Adult stores. Sex. It's out there. And women say it's okay. And it's about time. Call it the "Sex and the City" revolution.. Women are opening up about their sexuality. And it's no secret anymore. Challenging the stigma often attached to adult toys.. Mainstream media is getting in on the action.. Even texoma is moving on the trend.

Passion parties, the ultimate girls night in. The products are designed to promote intimacy and communication between couples. Shelly Gallagher is a fulltime nurse. And she has been hosting Passion Parties since May. Think of it as a Tupperware party for 2009. Shelly says the intimate home environment offers women a chance to open up and ask questions in a familiar setting.

And they're a hit.. She says business has grown.. On average she throws about ten parties a month for ages 18 and up... Shelly says her parties attract every generation. Although a female favorite, the parties are also open to men.

"I didn't know some of the products that were out there for men and women," says Watts. "Things for couples, we have lots of things for couples. We have books. We have a stripper pole, we have a love swing, we have a pillow, a passion pillow because sometimes you have people with back problems and knee problems."

Passion parties are enlightening women across the U.S. Decades after Hugh Heffner first brought sex to mainstreet.

"It's time for women to be just as excited and open about it as guys."

These days, environmentally conscious people want to go on a different diet. They would like to reduce the size of their carbon footprint, or go on a carbon diet, if you will.

But it's not so easy to know the best way to do that. After all, a few years ago you didn't even know you had a carbon footprint, much less knowing that you needed to reduce the size of it. "

The Acai also contains the following beneficial nutrients: phytonutrients (promote healthy immune system); healthy fats and plant sterols (promote healthy heart and cardiovascular system); amino acids (body tissue and cell repair); vitamins and minerals (essential for proper body growth, development and metabolic reactions); complex carbohydrates (storage transport of energy); and dietary fiber (proper digestive system health).

One 4 ounce serving of MonaVie per day entitles you to the equivalent of 14 servings of antioxidant rich fruits. ShopWurld Founder in DailyGazette Article

Source: DailyGazette

"Gazette Reporter Tatiana Zarnowski wrote a detailed account of ShopWurld Founder David Silipigno's business history in her January 28, 2009 article.

"Local businessman and philanthropist David Silipigno has started a new online business venture that he says has taken off like wildfire.

Silipigno calls ShopWurld a viral marketing opportunity that is spreading as fast as social networking sites Facebook and MySpace, with one important difference.

“With those programs, nobody makes any money. With our program, everybody makes money,” he said.

“At the end of the day, there’s nobody who can lose any money through this.”

She goes on to reference Silipigno for his "checkered past":

Silipigno is known for his checkered past, which includes convictions for felony wire fraud and lying under oath in 2003. He was charged after his first company, National Finance Corp. in Halfmoon, closed suddenly in 1999, leaving 300 employees out of a job just before Christmas.

Silipigno was sentenced to three years of supervised release and fined $100,000, plus he had to make $5.6 million in restitution payments from money his company fraudulently kept from investment banker Bear Stearns & Co.

He paid the fine and completed his sentence, according to federal court records.

Silipigno later founded and worked as a consultant for First Guarantee Mortgage in Saratoga Springs, which specialized in bad credit and subprime loans until it dissolved about a year ago.

Several First Guarantee customers were irked enough to file complaints about the company with the Better Business Bureau.

The bureau got 53 complaints about the mortgage company in the last three years, mostly for selling practices and service issues, according to a BBB report. Of those complaints, 24 were resolved. "

Zrii in Meltdown Says Salt Lake Tribune

Source: Npros.com

"According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, MLM startup Zrii is in a meltdown…

A Utah-based nutritional drink company that started last year is reeling after its top distributors failed in an attempt to oust its CEO and co-founder and then were fired. Other co-founders of the company and top managers, including at least 35 top employees, also left the company amid allegations of personal enrichment made against CEO William F. Farley.

The sides were huddling with lawyers Friday to discuss options after the meltdown at Zrii LLC of Draper, which launched its juice just last May with the endorsement of the popular author of mind-body wellness books and seminars Deepak Chopra.

Farley terminated the top seven distributors in an e-mail Thursday after they had sent him a letter on Monday demanding his resignation, said Jason Domingo of Sacramento, the company's master distributor, who was at the top of a web of what he said were about 70,000 independent sellers at the multilevel marketing company.

Domingo cited personal and professional behavior by Farley, his relations with distributors and company staff, as well as his decisions altering payments to distributors in ways not in accord with the Zrii's compensation plan.

The letter, which has been circulating among lower-level distributors, demanded Farley "immediately remove yourself as the CEO of Zrii." "Your behavior both in your person and professional life, neither represents the ideals and principles of our team nor our brand," said the letter. "To continue our association with you would not only represent a severe compromise in principle but would also put every IE's [independent executive's] family at great risk."

Farley refused to resign.

"The Doctors, a daytime talk show delivering up-to-the-minute information from a panel of four practicing medical professionals, featured the acai berry and MonaVie in a segment on the top 10 health trends for 2009. The segment, which aired January 7, 2008, touted the benefits of the acai berry, ranking it No. 7 on the list of most talked about health trends. Calling it a “miracle berry” from the Amazon, the hosts said acai is made into a juice that is high in antioxidants.

The MonaVie formula is a blend of 19 fruits, including the antioxidant-rich acai berry as the foundation ingredient. Acai contains concentrated levels of anthocyanins—a family of antioxidants that assists in neutralizing the harmful effects free radicals can have on the body. Unsaturated fats found in the acai fruit at unusually high concentrations facilitate the fruit’s antioxidant compounds. Quixtar in the Chicago Tribune

"Once a household name and reputedly the key to fortune for modern salesmen hoping to live out a Horatio Alger myth, the Amway brand faded from the American market years ago, tarnished by legal and regulatory problems.

The direct seller of everything from health and beauty items to household cleaners repeatedly fought allegations that it was a pyramid scheme. The company also paid $20 million in fines in a Canadian criminal fraud case in 1983.

In 2000, after Amway become part of an umbrella company called Alticor Inc., the Amway name was dropped in the U.S. and Canada. The hope was that the company could emerge remade in the world of online sales under a new moniker: Quixtar.

Now, as Amway's 50th anniversary approaches in May, Alticor is retiring the inert Quixtar label and pouring millions of dollars into reviving the Amway brand in North America with market research, national TV commercials and ads in newspapers, magazines and online. The company will use a transitional name, Amway Global, before reverting in about a year to Amway. "

"Have you ever wanted to be a snarky record store clerk like the ones in High Fidelity, recommending the choicest cuts to a grateful and adoring public? People's Music Store lets you set up your own online storefront to sell up to 50 DRM-free albums from a decent range of high-quality electronica, rock and other music. The store won't earn you money, but it could earn you respect, plus ability to download free music from other people's stores.

"This sounds peachy keen, but I was trepidacious because some of it sounds familiar. The most notorious "build your own storefront" music store was BurnLounge, which went offline in June after drawing negative attention from the FTC during the previous year for allegedly running a pyramid-type scheme that defrauded storefront owners. As such, they have committed themselves to helping educate others on the benefits of healthy living, which they say begins with making choices on the "little" things, such as the cleaning products people use in their homes.

"It started with me being a musician," Ron Gosselin, 55, explained. "I was playing four nights a week and working full time. That was taking a toll on my health. I thought I'd be old before I was 30."

Ron Gosselin started using Shaklee supplements, a product with which his father had some familiarity. He began to see a difference in his energy level, as did his bandmates, who asked for his secret. He shared his secret. "

"Many high-priced fruit drinks are trumpeting claims of health benefits from drinking recommended amounts of their bottled juice, instead of eating fruits and vegetables.

Some of those drinks include exotic ingredients like the acai berry which comes from the Amazon region of Brazil. One of the popular drinks, called MonaVie, is not sold in stores but by private distributors who host prospective customers at tasting parties.

A 25-ounce bottle of MonaVie retails for $45. But Victoria Zinser, a Valley distributor, says there are discounted prices for distributors and preferred customers. For example, those who pay a one-time $39 fee can order a four-bottle case for as little as $120, plus shipping. Other discounts are available for bulk and monthly orders. "

Metabolife in Newsweek

Source: Newsweek

"So you're feeling a little thick around the middle and you've heard enough about abstinence and exercise. Wouldn't it be nice if you could pop a pill, stretch out in the BarcaLounger and incinerate calories like a long-distance runner? That's the idea behind a hot herbal supplement called Metabolife 356. Americans are downing it like candy, and some are claiming remarkable results. "Metabolife has been absolutely amazing for me," says 43-year-old Anna Hamersly of Woodbridge, Ill. Hamersly says she weighed about 270 pounds when she started using the product last year. She's now down to 200--and expecting to drop an additional 20 pounds by New Year's. "I feel like a new person," she says.

Launched four years ago by a former San Diego cop with no formal medical training, Metabolife is now one of America's best-selling herbal products. Enthusiasts peddle it from living rooms and kiosks, as well as retail shops. And Metabolife International, the privately held company that produces the stuff, says its sales will approach $1 billion this year--a figure that places Metabolife in the same league as such blockbuster pharmaceuticals as Prozac and Viagra. The catch is that the stimulants it contains can be dangerous: the Food and Drug Administration has warned that products like Metabolife can cause "cardiac arrhythmia and death." Several states have moved to ban or restrict their use, and a few users have filed lawsuits claiming injury. Yet consumers continue to down an estimated 225,000 pills every hour. "

"Arbonne gets positive mention in this tribune article:

...Health and wellness are two of the fastest growing businesses in the economy today. Magazine, TV ads and now reality programs show how to get a nip and tuck, a chemical peel and how BOTOX can make a person look years younger. Why the attention on how to look and feel better all of a sudden? The answer is very simple – Baby Boomers. The Baby Boomers are aging and want to look and feel better, and are willing to pay for it and even sometimes endure radical procedures to make it happen.

But there is an alternative, a health and wellness company that is quietly slipping into the homes in America and is addressing these issues in a pure, safe and beneficial way. That company is Arbonne International Inc. This 28-year-old company was founded on the basis of promoting health and wellness through the most pure and positive methods using cutting-edge technology. Since the launch of their incredible NutriminC RE9 anti-aging line in 2003 and most recently the new SeaSource Detox Body System, the company has experienced exponential growth. They have six product lines that are all strategically placed within the health and wellness industry and they are delivered through a business model that is also exploding across the country right now. That is network marketing. People are tired of going to the mall or grocery store and buying products that they know little about. Network marketing allows consumers to receive personal attention from trained consultants who can educate them in any of the six product lines that Arbonne features... "

Green Mountain Energy in Yellow Springs News

Source: Yellow Springs News

"Yellow Springs residents will soon have the opportunity to ensure that the cost of their share of household energy use goes to supporting renewable power sources like the sun, wind, waterways and landfill gas. Village Council on Monday, May 19, agreed to initiate a new “green pricing” program that will offer residents the option of paying for the renewable energy production equivalent to their household power consumption. In other words, by paying a little extra on their utility bill, residents can support the production of green energy and reduce demand for fossil fuels to supply the country’s power grid.

The green pricing program allows Yellow Springs utility consumers to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) equivalent to the amount of kilowatt hours of electricity they consume each month. While all energy consumers are using the mix of renewable and non-renewable energy available on the power grid at any given moment, green pricing participants will be paying only for the renewable sources. According to Julia Blankenship, who directs the AMP-Ohio program that will administer green pricing for Yellow Springs, green pricing participants are thereby investing only in renewable energy. "

Wealth Pools in New Brunswick Business Journal

Source: New Brunswick Business Journal

"...The New Brunswick Securities Commission recently approved a settlement agreement with the operators of a pyramid-type investment scheme that was promoted in this province in 2006-07.

James Oagles, Jeannie Tracy, Ronald Fulton and their company, Wealth Pools International LLC were named in the settlement.

James Oagles agreed to pay an administrative penalty of $10,000 and $2,500 toward the costs of the commission's investigation. Tracey agreed to pay an administrative penalty of $2,000 and $500 for costs. Fulton agreed he would have been subject to a penalty of $2,000 had he not been bankrupt. The three individuals acknowledged their actions caused financial losses to the people they recruited into the scheme and they agreed to be permanently banned from trading in securities in New Brunswick.

The commission concluded the three did not intend to defraud their victims but they were involved in illegal activity and ignorance of the law was not an excuse. More than 109 New Brunswick residents had invested more than $440,000 in Wealth Pools.

The securities commission urges New Brunswickers who believe they are being solicited with questionable investment schemes to visit their website at www.nbsc-cvmnb.ca. "

A chief selling point is the claim that liquid vitamins are better absorbed by the body because large, hard pills may pass through the digestive tract and be excreted intact.

Liquid vitamins aren't any better for you than are good- quality vitamin and mineral supplements formulated to be easily digested and absorbed in pill form.

The downside to liquid supplements is that they're more expensive. And since many vitamins begin to break down upon exposure to air, in some cases the potency of liquid vitamins may begin to wane as soon as you open the bottle. "

Even so, chocolate has taken a couple of health hits of late. One study linked regular eating of any chocolate to slightly weaker bones because it contains oxalate, making calcium harder to absorb. Another said consumers are misled because some manufacturers often remove heart-healthy flavonols due to their bitter taste and darken the cocoa anyway.

XanGo Super Fruit in the Herald Tribune

"Exotic super fruit juice spawns $1B nutrition business for one company; experts doubtful

On stage at a sales convention, XanGo executive Joseph Morton said that when he first stumbled across mangosteen, a tropical fruit with purported curative powers, "I didn't have to have it confirmed in the New England medical journal before I would listen."

The multilevel marketing company has built a huge business around its mangosteen-based juice, which it promotes as an immunity booster. The company still hasn't proved its health benefits — which it says could include a stronger immune system and improved joint function — to skeptical experts. XanGo's Web site includes a disclaimer, noting the juice is not meant to treat or prevent disease. A lab test arranged by The Associated Press found its antioxidant power to be on par with other fruit juices.

Morton, a 37-year-old triathlete nicknamed Ironman Joe, was on a business trip in Malaysia when he saw mangosteen, a white delicacy wrapped in a blood-red leathery shell, on the dessert menu.

From that introduction, Morton, the company's president of international and distributor relations, capitalized on a new brand category of liquid "super-fruits" that is "doing gangbusters," said Jeff Hilton, a partner at Integrated Marketing Group, a branding and packaging consultant.

XanGo has more than two dozen competitors that sell fruit juices, powdered drinks and vitamin fizz tablets. Tahitian Noni International Inc. sold $2 billion (€1.38 billion) worth of noni juice, from the French Polynesia fruit, in its first 10 years by 2006. "Xocai dark chocolate, sold only through distributors, is advertised as "the healthy chocolate" with antioxidant-rich açai berries and blueberries.

So can dark chocolate be called a health food?

Health benefits

Still, studies consistently say cocoa powder tends to affect the body in a way similar to baby aspirin, said Deborah Murray, assistant professor of food, nutrition and hospitality at Ohio University, Athens. Dark chocolate typically is 60 to 80 percent rich in cocoa powder; milk chocolate, about 10 percent. "

Green Mountain Energy on Energy Central

"Buying pools may help encourage more green energy development. By combining consumers into one larger block, electricity suppliers say that they are able to leverage their buying power to bring down prices for all technologies, including renewable energy. In some cases around the country, cities are aggregating their businesses and households and buying renewable energy credits. Those "certificates" guarantee the production of such things as wind generation, thereby facilitating the development of more sustainable energy generation.

Consider Direct Energy, which has just completed a deal for 10 cities in Texas to buy almost 13,000 renewable energy credits over the next 15 years: The alternative energy provider says it will then purchase that energy and the associated credits from five West Texas wind farms, with a total output of 813 megawatts. That, it adds, will offset more than 2 million tons of carbon dioxide a year. "

MonaVie Recommended in Herald Citizen

"It may seem a little depressing that so many of the foods we love are causing us harm. However, it would be nearly impossible to follow these research-proven dietary guidelines every meal every day. Also, heredity plays a role in how easily we develop these chronic diseases. Does this mean we should never eat pasta, bread, dairy, beans or a perfectly marbled New York strip? Of course not. When consulting with patients on these issues, I guess the world that comes up most often is "moderation." Since almost nobody could eat perfectly all the time, we should strive to eat as many of the anti-inflammatory foods and as little of the pro-inflammatory foods as possible. By taking extra nutritional supplements (absolutely essential, in my humble opinion), we can offset or counteract the negative effects of the pro-inflammatory foods we do eat.

A high-quality multi vitamin/multimineral, omega 3 and 9 fatty acid fish oils, extra vitamin D, magnesium, Coenzyme Q10, alpha lipoic acid and L-carnitine are the nutritional supplements most recommended for reducing inflammation. A concentrated antioxidant, anti-inflammation fruit drink like MonaVie would be very beneficial as well. "

Power Pops on CBS 11

"Could New Lollipops Help You Lick Away Pounds?

...There are many ways to lose weight, but can you really lick away the unwanted pounds and keep them off for good? One woman said she did with an unusual kind of lollipop called Power Pops.

With 28 calories, no fat, amino acids, vitamins and just four carbs, the Power Pops are said to help knock off weight. They come in eight flavors including cherry, root beer, butter pecan and pina colada. The main ingredient is Hoodia, grown for hundreds of years in South Africa.

Missy Worcester is a life skills coach who had packed on more than 100 pounds while caring for her son who had been tragically burned a few years ago. She managed to lose all but 20 pounds.

That's when Worcester stopped reaching for a bag of chips and started reaching for Power Pops. "The last 20 pounds are from Power Pops and I kept it off. And, I keep shedding weight," she said... "

Mary Kay Cosmetics in the Seattle Times

"Hispanic women change the face of Mary Kay

LOS ANGELES — Altagracia Valdez is dreaming of a perfect pink Cadillac. All she has to do to win it, according to her boss at Mary Kay Inc., is expand her list of "conocidos."

Those familiar connections, she says, can adorn Valdez's 60-year-old hands with diamond rings, pump up her bank account with enough money to pay the bills and buy a house and help her finally enjoy some middle-class financial security.

If Valdez can recruit a sales force of 30 and sell at least $18,000 worth of cosmetics in four months, she can win a free lease and insurance for her first Mary Kay car — not the signature pink Cadillac, but maybe a Saturn Vue or a Pontiac Vibe she can trade in for a Cadillac if she keeps meeting sales quotas. If she falls short of winning the car, she can still earn a promotion if her sales total $16,000. And she can always try again.

Pampered Chef CEO in Smart Business Network

Source: Smart Business Network

"Every year, thousands of investors flock to Berkshire's annual meeting to hear the "Oracle of Omaha" hold forth on the prospects for investing success in the coming year. But on this early September day in 2002, Buffet wanted to hear what Doris Christopher had to say.

Just a week earlier, the $36 billion dollar man had never heard of Christopher. Now he wanted to know if the founder and CEO of The Pampered Chef would sell her company -- a direct seller of 225 high-end kitchen tools including everything from vegetable peelers and cutting boards to skillets and fondue sets -- to Berkshire.

But it wasn't the cooking accessories that drew the interest of Buffet, whose culinary tastes run toward a simple steak and Dairy Queen ice cream. Instead, it was the fact that The Pampered Chef had grown by more than 230 percent since 1995, had no debt, offered juicy profit margins (estimated as high as 25 percent pre-tax) and boasted a following of 70,000 dedicated sales reps, or "kitchen consultants" as the company calls them. Shaklee Products Referenced in Whole Life Times

"Go green with household cleaners Unless you are using products scented with natural oils, your favorite “clean smell” is likely the result of a chemical concoction. Try natural cleaning agents such as baking soda and white vinegar. Or look for brands with non-toxic ingredients like Shaklee’s Get Clean or Mrs. Meyers Clean Day. If you’re a fan of scented candles, consider switching to soy, which burns much cleaner than petroleum-based counterparts. To keep the bugs away, use boric-acid-based bait stations as an effective alternative to chemical sprays.

Enlist the power of plants While formaldehyde (found in plywood, adhesives, carpets and paints), benzene (found in Styrofoam, plastics, lubricants, detergents and synthetic fibers) and carbon monoxide (off-gassed by heating or cooking equipment) are bad news for people, plants can thrive on them and help remove them from the air. Peace lily, bamboo palm, English ivy, mums and gerbera daisies top the clean-air list. Plus, they’re easy to care for, so even if you don’t have a green thumb, you’ll still have a good chance of keeping these babies alive. "
